Rethymno City
The hub of activity is Rethymno Town, the city that serves as the capital of Rethymno Greece.
Rethymno Town was inspired by the Venetians,with beautiful architecture and a charming port.
Numerous international beach resorts, including Bali, Agia Galini, Plakias, and Adelianos Kampos, can be found outside of Rethymno Old Town.
If you prefer quieter locations, a journey through the Rethymno prefecture will lead you to several isolated coves where you may relish complete seclusion.
If you can drag yourself away from the stunning beaches of Rethymno, you should head out to explore the area.
Many attractions may be found in Rethymno, Crete, including the Preveli and Arkadi Monasteries(which is included in our tour), the Ideon Cave, where Zeus is said to have spent his formative years, and numerous gorges.
Rethymnon is the greatest option if you want a restful vacation or an exciting getaway!
Fortezza of Rethymno
One of the largest fortifications built during the Venetian Period is the Fortezza of Rethymno, the fort overlooks the hill Palekastro next to the old town.
It stands where the Temple of Artemis Rokkea and the old Rithimna fortress formerly stood.
The massive pentagonal fort, whose circumference is 1300 meters, was constructed in 1573.
There are four bastions along the walls (St. Luke, St. Elijah, St. Paul, St. Nicholas).
The fort is so big that it could house and defend the whole town’s residents.
There are a number of barracks, a church, a hospital, and several storage spaces inside the fort.
A sizable gallery serves as the primary gate and facilitates the movement of wagons and equipment.
The armory, a sizable two-story structure with inside arches that today holds cultural events and exhibitions, sits right beside the entrance.
There is also the “Erofili” theater, which hosts events during the summer.
Also nearby the fort’s main square is Sultan Ibrahim’s stunning mosque, which was once a Christian church.
You can see St. Catherine’s contemporary church nearby.
In addition, numerous smaller residences survive, and not much is left of the governor’s mansion.
Even the residence of one of the two consultants, which is placed at a very high altitude, as well as the warehouses close to the north walls are visible.
Arkadi Monastery
Ter Apel was Catholic before becoming Protestant, whereas Arkadi is Eastern Orthodox, yet it seemes that the monks are living in quite similar ways.
They passed their time praying or reflecting inside a church or strolling through covered alleys that circled a courtyard.
They were ascetics who lived in tiny, sparsely equipped cell.
The two monasteries have a similar age, give or take a few hundred years, yet they have completely distinct appearances
Nevertheless, there’s a strong sense of tranquility in each of them.-
The interior town of Rethymno is roughly 20 minutes’ drive from the 13th-century Arkadi Monastery.
The 13th-century Arkadi Monastery is located in the interior hills of northern Crete, about 20 minutes by vehicle from the town of Rethymno.
The Katholikon, a church that is the most significant structure, was constructed in the 16th- century and features a Renaissance design and around three monks still reside there.
Plakias Beach
At the end of a productive valley south of the Kouroupa mountain range, 36 kilometers south of Rethymno city, sits Plakias, a well-liked tourist destination.
The river Kotsifos empties next to it.
The lengthy coastline, known as Gialia, is one of the region’s main growth factors.
The major beach begins close to the town and stretches 1.3 kilometers to the east, up to Cape Mouri.
The beach is clean and has nice, green seas.
A route that runs beside the shore is great for biking and strolling.
Numerous restaurants and hotels are located along this road, and there are tamarisk trees, umbrellas, water sports, beach volley courts, snack bars, restrooms, showers, etc.

The cost of the trip is €400 and it;s about 7 hour long journey in total.
Other expenses such as entrance tickets or guide services are not included in the price.
